Day three! I am wiped out already, I have 7 more teaching days straight...and the kids are finally taming down and listening to me. I figured out the class I am teaching is lowest on the totem pole, all the kids who are either bad, or completely don't understand are in my class...which is awesome since I am not a REAL teacher, and have never taught before. BUT, my class is def the coolest, and since we are the odd ones of the school, we get way more free time because the lessons are so short. Today, we went out and played duck duck goose and card games. We learned about commercials today, and I split the kids up in 2 groups and let them choose what they wanted to pitch it on...they chose "Super Pizza's" and "Ugly Robots."
After school, we got a call from a mom who said her daughter wasnt feeling well...my co teacher asked if I would go with to check on the girl and to bring apples. WTF!? I asked why the hell would we bring apples...and my co teacher said "an apple a day, keeps the doctor away." They are so literal!! So we caught a taxi to the girls house, spoke with her mom and dropped off apples. I explained to her in America, we say that...but its deff not normal for a teacher to bring apples to a sick kids home...usually they just rest up and miss a couple days!
Alot of people wonder about the bathrooms! So here is a tour of the bathroom in my school. Yes, this would be a squat toilet. everyone uses these, teachers and students...which to me is..um not my first choice. Notice there is no toilet paper...I was told people usually carry this around?..Not sure if they do....or just not use some. Because I know when my students go, they dont have any!
Lady's, if you have something to throw away, you use the bin which is usually waist high, right in your face when you are using the toilet! Kinda gross...also...bathrooms in my school, dont have soap, and some of the sinks dont work. Very sanity, since we are touching the students.
Will write more tomorrow!
Aw, I like their chalkboard drawings for you. Good luck with that bathroom, looks like it'll take a little while to get used to!
